Habitat 2 is a relatively simple build with one tricky area that needs to be assembled in a specific order.
Here I am going to show you how to assemble that tricky area:
Firstly assemble the parts that go together to make the Emergency entrance – these parts can be seen in the next two pictures.
(Note: It is best to pop-out the doors and windows and replace them with acrylic (if you are going to use the acrylic) BEFORE assembling these parts: the MDF frame around the Emergency doors is fragile without having the door area itself filled with something – but if you leave the MDF doors in the slots then it can be difficult to cut them out after assembly.)
Once you have this part assembled build the base of Habitat 2 and attach its ends and side “bay window” areas so that you end up in the position shown next, with a 3/4 assembled structure and the Emergency Doors (with roof strip) as a separate piece. (see below)
You now fix the Emergency door set onto the base using the lugs in the side-supports to slot into the holes in the base:
With the Emergency Door section in place, check that it fits levelly and gently push the top roof-strip over its locating lugs along the top of the Habitat side peices:
The roof-strip should now be seated neatly over its locating lugs:
Next we add the missing side -pieces:
And that is the tricky part all done – you can add the other elements ina simailar fashion to habitat 1, the bottom stirps, angled solar-strips and so forth, all simply push and glue into place.
